Effect of Ipriflavone on the Lumbodorsal Pain in Osteoporosis

ABSTRACT
@EN The 27 patients with senile osteoporosis, with a chief complaints of lumbodorasal pain, were treated with 200mg ipriflavone (Teobone) t. i. d. and followed for 12 weeks. The lumbodorsal pain at rest, pain at starting of activity, impairment
of
daily
activities have improved at the 8th week after treatment and reached mostly a plateau at the 12th week. The effect rate of ipriflavone treatment was 81.5%. As the side effect of the ipriflavone treatment mild gastrointestinal disturbances were
noted
from the 4 patients. The symptoms were mild and easly improved with antacids. The laboratory findings in all patients showed any significant changes. From these results of pain relieving effect and the incidence of its side effects, the
ipriflavone
treatment is one of the useful therapeutic mordality for the painful senile osteoporosis (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 8:340~346, 1993).
